 Dee Campanella

Social Justice Center Coordinator & Residential College Director

 

Dee was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to Dallas, Texas when she was 8-years-old. She attended the University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate and is now a die-hard Longhorns fan! She then went to graduate school at the University of Maryland and earned Masters degrees in both College Student Personnel and Public & Community Health. Dee also served as a National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps member in Washington, DC prior to joining Washington University's Residential Life staff in 2005. She was the Residential College Director (RCD) for Lee/Beaumont during the 2005-2006 academic year and has been the RCD for Wayman Crow Residential College since July 2006. This is Dee's first year as the Coordinator of the Social Justice Center.

Dee is a Certified Health Education Specialist and has particular interests in health disparities, environmental public health, infectious disease epidemiology, and sexual violence prevention/response. In her free time, Dee enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing with her dog and cat. She also loves music, theatre, reading, running, and all types of outdoor activities. Dee is passionate about working with college students and feels very fortunate to be a part of the caring Washington University community.

Nicole Solawetz

 

Nicole Solawetz is originally from Des Moines, IA. She graduated from Wash U in 2006 with majors in Spanish and Psychology and is currently in her second year of a joint degree graduate program in Social Work and Law. On campus Nicole is involved with the Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Issues at the Brown School of Social Work and her professional interests lie in work with immigrant rights. She hopes that the work done at the Social Justice Center will benefit the Wash U community as a whole and serve to heighten our awareness about and sensitivity to the myriad of social justice issues we face every day. Nicole lives in the Benton Park/Cherokee Street district of St. Louis City and loves exploring all of the things wider St. Louis has to offer.
